Duties

The City of Claremore - Rogers County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission sets a broad vision for growth and development for the area. It has the responsibility of adopting the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Claremore & Rogers County. The Comprehensive Plan serves as the basis for evaluating all zoning requests. It sets forth the adopted planning and development policies the City of Claremore & Rogers County wants to achieve as a community. The City of Claremore - Rogers County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission is also responsible for adoption and maintenance of several ordinances and codes regulating planning and zoning. New subdivision plats and lot splits are processed by the City of Claremore - Rogers County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission and must meet the adopted Subdivision Regulations.

Composition of Commission

According to Oklahoma Statutes, the Mayor, with approval of the City Council, appoints four members to the City of Claremore - Rogers County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, and the Rogers County Commission appoints four members. The mayor, or a member of the governing body of the city appointed by the mayor, and chairman of the board of county commissioners, or a member of the board of county commissioners appointed by the chairman, shall be ex officio members of the commission, bringing the total membership to ten. Members appointed by the mayor shall serve for a term of four (4) years except that the respective terms of the first two appointed shall be for a term of two (2) years and the next two appointed shall be for a term of four (4) years. Members appointed by the board shall serve a term of four (4) years except that the respective terms of the first two appointed shall be for a term of two (2) years and the next two appointed shall be for a term of four (4) years. All members of the commission serve without compensation.
